The Farm and Animals
Starry Nights Farm is a 140-acre Certified Organic and Regenerative Agriculture family farm. We specialize in rotational grazing for beef cows and lamb, and pastured pigs, chickens, and turkeys.
All our animals are outside in pasture, moving through our farm while they harvest the grasses to eat and deposit their manure for fertility. A perfect, natural ecological system!
While you are at the farm, we offer to give you a tour, and you can see the animals and learn what we do. You are also free to roam around the farm, explore the pastures, and visit the animals yourself.
Please note that animals you see depend on the season, and even year of operation.
In the winter, we will always have our cattle and our donkey Cookie out on pasture, and our laying hens in the coop.
Spring (from April to June), is our calving season, so you might catch a live calving or at least see fresh new calves with their mommas!
Chicks come in May, and they spend a couple of weeks in warmth in the brooder, and then grow in pasture for the rest of 6-7 weeks, until July.
Turkeys come in June and also spend a couple of weeks in brooder, and afterwards grow on pasture until they get harvested in November.
Our laying hens are in the coop in the winter and out on pasture in the summer months.
We also have a few "farm pets" roaming around- our pretty guinea fowl, and our barn cats- Goose and Dusty!
Summer months, between June and September, are our most active as far as animals go. We will have our cattle, donkey, lambs, chickens and turkeys, out on pasture and fairly easy for you to walk out and see.
